About the Artist
I have always loved jewelry. As a preteen I had already amassed a large jewelry collection. Most of it costume jewelry that I had picked up at yard sales. I wore a ring on every finger as well as earrings and necklaces. I had to find the most unique jewelry. For me it was a statement of the individual I was. I grew up in a very small town and that kills individuality, because unless you can go to the city everyone has the same type of clothes all bought from one of the two stores. As I got older the quality of my jewelry improved greatly. However, I still was picking it up at yard sales or craft shows, I spent a lot of time searching for jewelry that expressed who I was. As I have gotten older who I am has changed but my love of jewelry never left me.
I started painting and sketching around 10. It expressed my creative side and offered me the creative outlet I so longed for. Unfortunately, a succession of health issues in my late 20′s that culminated with the diagnosis of Fibromyalgia ended my painting days. As I searched for new and different ways to express the creativity within me I naturally gravitated towards jewelry design. I have no idea what got me started. I just started one day and slowly taught myself the techniques required. I made simple strung jewelry for a couple of months but soon was looking for ways to push my creativity to the next level, it is now two years later and selling the fruits of my labor is the challenge for me.
Today I make jewelry that I would wear which means simply high quality jewelry that no one else has. Even if someone attempted to copy my designs they could not create what I have. One of the reasons my jewelry is so unique is because I use crystal, gemstones, pearls, fused glass, and other natural elements in my work. I also re-purpose a lot of broken vintage jewelry into new pieces. My favorite is the earring ring; I take a lonely earring and re-purpose it into a beautiful new ring for some lucky lady to enjoy.
If you have read all this I thank you for your interest in me as an artist and as a person.
